Indoor Outdoor thermometers – Easy way to know everyday temperatures!

An Indoor Outdoor Digital Thermometer is a great way to easily
see the temperature outside from the comfort of inside because
often you just want to know if it will be sunny, cloudy, or rainy
day before leaving your home and you will also  know how will you
dress yourself for the day. To help you find out the temperature
outside,an indoor outdoor thermometer is a great thing to have!
You can check the temperature outside without going to that location.

Installing indoor outdoor thermometers throughout your home can
be a great way to ensure that you can always keep track of both
temperatures that apply to your comfort, at all times.  It is
important to be aware of both conditions, so that you can alter
your heating or cooling system accordingly, you can also maximize
your energy savings, and to ensure that your home will remain a
comfortable climate or area.  You’ll find that indoor outdoor
thermometers are very convenient, and can be extremely useful,
when you’re looking to see the difference between just how hot
or cold it is outside, compared to the indoor reading.

When choosing indoor outdoor thermometers, the most important
factors to consider are accuracy and reliability. Added features
make indoor outdoor thermometers vary from one to another. Many
indoor outdoor thermometers have digital clocks; others have atomic
clocks, hygrometer, records maximum and minimum temperatures. Some
indoor outdoor thermometers are wireless while some are wired.
Whatever these added features are, most users or buyers of indoor
outdoor thermometers would always prefer big digits for them to
easily read the displays and would be willing to exchange the extra
features for readability. Of course, if it is given that the indoor
outdoor thermometers in question reliably give accurate readings.

Could A Lightening Detector Save Your Life?

Everyone knows that getting hit by lightening can have a devasting impact. Most people generally will take precautions as a lightening storm approaches, but did you know that lightening can strike in winter, or strike from 10 or more miles ahead of the storm? If your like me, you’ve seen TV shows reenacting real life stories of people who survived these freak lightening events. They were the lucky ones.

Having an early warning of the presence and direction of potential lightening strikes could have saved these people from years of medical rehabilitation, and saved the lives of the unfortunate people who were not so lucky.

Almost everyone knows about the lightening rods available for sporting events and buldings, but they won’t help you when you’re out picnicing or camping. This is where a portable lightening detector comes into its own. You can still enjoy the great outdoors knowing that you’ll be warned of approaching electrical storms.

Weather Stations – How to Be The Weather i-Reporter For Your Area

I found this great article by Graham McClung on using your weather station to investigate and report on severe weather events. This is great stuff for all the i-reporters out there who would like to ensure your contribution makes it on the air!

He elaborates that a weather story is more than just words … “Just imagine how much more interesting the record of a passing severe weather event, such as a storm would be if it included descriptions of cloud types, the effect of wind, rain and hail, and a summary of any damage to your area.”

“Take it a step further and include photos, video, on the spot audio recordings, and screen prints of critical radar or satellite images and you have a fully documented multi media coverage.”

He goes on to explain the diverse types of severe weather events – a great read for the weather geek!

Protecting Your Indoor Outdoor Thermometers from Direct Sunlight

I just read this article on how to protect your indoor-outdoor thermometers from direct sunlight. The tips are good, although he mentions a south placement of the sensor in the first item. I don’t recommend south placements unless you’re in the southern hemisphere since the south placement in the northern hemisphere gets the noon sun. this will cause the readings to read higher than actual temperatures.

There is one other concern with the placement of your outdoor sensor that I would like to add and that is protecting it from rain. I have placed mine in a ziplock baggie and punched a hole in the plastic to hang it on a nail (on the north side of the house of course :) This has worked well for me. If you have any tips to add to this please leave a comment.

Home Solar Heating Products – Using Indoor Outdoor Thermometers to Test Viability

Are you interested in solar space heating products? This forum discussion may be of interest to you. http://bit.ly/cZAfKX

Several members talk about the frustration of conditions such as when it’s 20C (70F) outside and 16C (61F) inside your home. If there was a good way to use solar heat to make up the difference it can make your home more comfortable and save you money. However, some of these solar heating products can’t store the heat so they work great on cold sunny days, but not at all on cold cloudy days.

The solar heating product you should buy depends on the type of roofing you have so various products and styles of roofing are discussed here. Several members use indoor outdoor thermometers up near the ceiling to test whether they have enough heat capture up there to justify getting a solar heating system in the first place.

A very interesting discussion at http://bit.ly/cZAfKX

Indoor Outdoor Thermometers – Control Humidity to Control Your Allergies

I just read an interesting little postet (it’s too small to be called a post :)  on how controlling humidity can effect the level of molds and other allergens in and around your home. The trick is to find the right kind of thermometer that will give you this information at a good price.

I wish I had known how important the link between humidity and allergens was before last spring – the humidity was so bad that mold was growing everywhere and on anything! An investment in a dehumidifier would have saved me from my allergies complicating into pneumonia! Lesson learned the hard way!

Here’s the link to the “postet” Digital Hygrometer and Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer In One!
